Credit Requirements For Occupational/Vocational Students & Local Community/Junior College Bound Students

Math - *3 credits - 3 of your choice of the following: Consumer Math, General Math, Business Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Advanced Math, Calculus, Trigonometry, etc

Science - *3 credits - 3 of your choice of the following: Biology, Earth Science, Physical Science, General Science, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Marine Science, etc.

History/Social Studies - *3 credits - 3 of your choice of the following: U.S. History, World History, American Government & Economics, World Geography, Global Studies, etc.

English/Language Arts - (*4 credits) English I – IV.
ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS consists of many subtopic courses within the topic "English". These subtopics include: Grammar, Composition/Writing, Vocabulary and more. A student must complete 4 years of grammar studies, minimum of 2 years of composition/writing, and minimum of 3 years Vocabulary. One must total the grades from all subtopic courses and average those grades to arrive at an English/Language Arts grade for High School Carnegie Units/Credits.

Reading/Literature - (*2 credits)

Keyboarding/Computer - (*1/2 credit)

Health - (*1/2 credit) *Life Skills Health

Total Credits = 16

Credit Requirements for Academic - 4 year University/College Bound Students

Math - (minimum 3 credits)*Algebra I, *Algebra II, *Geometry, Consumer Math, General Math, Business Math, Pre-Algebra, Advanced Math, Calculus, Trigonometry

Science - (minimum 3 credits)*Biology, *Earth Science, *Physical Science or Physics, General Science, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Marine Science or other elective.

History/Social Studies - (minimum 3 credits)*U.S. History, *World History, *American Government & Economics, World Geography, Global Studies, or other elective.

English/Language Arts - (minimum 4 credits)* English I – IV
ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS consists of many subtopic courses within the topic "English". Most students in college preparatory programs use curricula containing these subtopics: Grammar, Composition/Writing, Vocabulary, Literature, Reading Comprehension, Reading Fluency and more. Curriculum choices must include 4 years of Grammar, Composition, Vocabulary & Literature. American Literature, British Literature, World Literature are typically chosen for college prep studies. If a student is taking individual subtopic courses one must total the grades from all English/Language Arts subtopic courses and average those grades to arrive at an English/Language Arts grade for High School Carnegie Units/Credits.

Physical Education - (minimum 1/2 credit)

Occupational/Vocational Ed. - (minimum 1 credit)

Typing/Keyboarding/Computer Applications - (minimum 1 credit)

Life Management - (minimum 1 credit)

Health/Wellness - (minimum 1/2 credit)

Approved courses/electives - (minimum 3 credits)

Total Credits = 22 (minimum)
